Organic Cow’s Milk from the Allgäu

For our Töpfer infant formula, we use only regional organic cow’s milk from the Allgäu, sourced from certified family farms that care for their animals responsibly and farm sustainably. The cows graze on lush Allgäu meadows, enjoy plenty of outdoor time, and have spacious barns for shelter when the winter snow gets too deep. The farms feed only organic fodder — free from genetic engineering, antibiotics, and growth promoters. Every liter of milk meets the highest organic standards and is transported to the dairy via short routes. This creates a valuable foundation for our organic infant and follow-on milk — produced responsibly and with respect for animals, people, and nature.

Bio-GOS: Fiber for tiny tummies

This infant formula contains organic galacto-oligosaccharides (GOS) — prebiotic fibers also found in breastmilk. They specifically support the growth of beneficial bacteria in the gut, helping to build a balanced intestinal microbiome. For your baby, that means improved digestion, less discomfort, and an overall happier tummy. We use only certified organic GOS derived from organic lactose — staying true to our commitment to support your baby naturally and gently from the very beginning. Bio-GOS may be small, but they make a big difference — and are an important part of our formula.

Probifido: our Bifido blend for a healthy beginning

With Probifido, we combine more than 100 years of experience with modern research. Our proprietary blend contains four carefully selected Bifidobacterium strains that also occur naturally in the gut of infants. These beneficial cultures help support the development of a healthy gut microbiota — especially important in the first months of life, when the immune system is forming and digestion is still developing. Probifido is an essential part of our infant formula and has been specially designed to meet your baby’s needs during this sensitive stage. For a supported, comforting start in life — from the inside out.

DHA — an essential fatty acid for the early stages of life

DHA belongs to the group of long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids and is an important component of our infant formula. Its inclusion in infant formula is required by law — which is why we carefully select the source used in our recipe. DHA helps ensure your baby is well supported from day one. Because the need for DHA is especially high during the first months of life, we have adjusted the amount to meet the specific nutritional requirements of this sensitive phase. This means you can rely on your baby receiving exactly what they need at the right time. The DHA in our infant formula is sourced from plant-based algal oil — a high-quality and sustainable alternative to fish oil.

Töpfer Bio Folgemilch 2 - FAQ

  • Is Follow-on Formula 2 useful? Show Hide
Whether Follow-on Formula 2 is useful depends on your baby’s development and individual eating habits. Many parents choose it once their child is a little older and nutrient needs begin to change. Follow-on Formula 2 usually has an adjusted composition tailored to babies in the second half of their first year. It can be a good addition to the diet if you are looking for age-appropriate milk developed specifically for growing babies.
  • What is the best Follow-on Formula 2? Show Hide
The question of the “best” Follow-on Formula 2 cannot be answered in general terms, since every child has different needs. The important thing is to pay attention to quality, ingredients, and tolerance. All Follow-on Formulas 2 meet the requirements for babies in the second half of their first year, since the composition is legally regulated. You can use this as a guideline, while also considering your baby’s individual needs to find out which formula works best and is well accepted.
  • When should you switch to Follow-on Formula 2? Show Hide
Parents often wonder when it is the right time to switch to Follow-on Formula 2. In most cases, this can be done around the 6th month, after about 5 months of age. The exact timing depends on your baby’s individual development. Some are ready earlier, others a bit later — it also depends on how much solid food has already been introduced. If you are unsure, feel free to reach out to our Parent Service, or consult your midwife or pediatrician. Generally, it is recommended to make the switch gradually so your baby can slowly adapt to the new composition.
  • How many times a day should Follow-on Formula 2 be given? Show Hide
Especially new parents want to know how often their child should drink Follow-on Formula 2. On all our toddler milk products you will find recommended amounts that follow the guidelines of the German Society for Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine (DGKJ). However, every child is different, and the amount depends on age, weight, and appetite. Some babies still need several bottles per day, while others reduce intake more quickly once solid foods are introduced. Start with the usual feeding times and observe how your baby reacts. What matters most is a flexible approach: don’t stick too rigidly to fixed rules, but rather follow your baby’s individual needs and signals.
